28th October 2025 Windsurfing: Levington Wind Direction: WSW to W Wind Stength: 5/25 Surf / Sea State: river chop and smooth Air Temperature: 14 Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny periods then cloudy Max Speed: 19.65 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 24.25 mile (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise) Tuesday 28th October – Windsurf *** River Orwell at Levinngton – sunny periods then cloud. Foil – 19.65 knot max, 18.19 knot ave., 10.49 knot hour, 15.88 knot mile, 39.01 km., 14.62 knot alpha. Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Bolt 5.7 and a Naish Nalu 4.75. The cough continues but after missing a few breezy days I decided to give windsurfing a go today as it was milder today, with the breeze I the west Levington was the spot, I will probably not go out on the open sea until next Spring! Despite the tide being low I headed over to the marina around 10 arriving inn some nice sunshine, the foil board was quickly rigged and with the wind blowing straight down the river gusting to 24 mph I rigged my 4.75 again but by the time I had put my wetsuit on it had eased:( I did head out to see, easily launching by the marina entrance as the tide was low but I was way under powered so after a few runs across the river I returned to rig my 5.7 which was much better but as usual here the wind was up and down! I had several runs on the corner before getting a gust that took me all the way to Felixstowe docks, in fact I did that twice but the wind was just not constant:( With the sun long gone and getting knackered I decided to call it a day having sailed a fraction under 25 miles, getting an OK average, top speed and mile so it was an OK session:) I had two sail to de-rigg before heading to the shower block, I did return briefly to the river to take a couple of pics of a winger who arrived late before heading for home. The sun did return and I drove down to Felixstowe dock view point to catch the sunset but sadly was a fraction late! Photo Album here |
